ChildrenProgram Description
Event Details
This interactive outreach program gives preschool through early elementary children — along with their caregivers — the opportunity to meet a live alpaca up close in a safe, structured setting.
Attendees will meet, feed, and possibly touch an alpaca under direct supervision while learning facts about how alpacas live, what they eat, and how they are cared for. Children will also explore real alpaca fiber and finished products to see and feel the difference between raw fleece and soft yarn.
Program highlights include:
• Up-close introduction to a live alpaca
• Opportunity to help feed the alpaca
• Supervised touching when appropriate
• Hands-on exploration of alpaca fiber and finished products
A small display of handcrafted alpaca products will be available for families to see, touch, and purchase if they choose.
This gentle, engaging experience encourages curiosity, respect for animals, and early connections to agriculture and fiber arts — all in a format designed specifically for young learners and their caregivers.
